Special Olympics

Allegany County Special Olympics is a sports organization for children (age 8+) and adults with disabilities, providing year-round training and competitions to over 70 athletes in Allegany County, NY. The ‘Green Machine’ teams, as they have been dubbed, currently compete in basketball, bocce, bowling, track & field, and softball and participate in local, regional and state competitions.

Allegany County Special Olympics is a free program, practices are held weekly and athletes do not have to be served by Allegany Arc to participate; athletes only need to have a diagnosed disability.

Allegany County Special Olympics Coaches and Volunteers are always needed and welcome. No specific sport skill is required to be eligible to coach or volunteer, just a good attitude and a willingness to guide, instruct and encourage athletes to achieve their goals. Reinforcement of sportsmanship, teamwork, team spirit and self-confidence are also encouraged.

If you are interested in participating on a Green Machine team, volunteering or coaching, please contact Stephanie Presutti-Kubiak, Allegany County Special Olympics Coordinator, at (585) 808-4379 or stephanie.kubiak@alleganyarc.org.
