Allegany Arc Promotes Perkins

Heather-Perkins

Allegany Arc, a human services provider that provides services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families, is pleased to announce the promotion of Heather Perkins to Director for Behavioral Services. In her new position, Heather will oversee Allegany Arc’s Independent Living facilities as well as crisis work and behavior plan development.

Heather began her career at Allegany Arc in 2003 as a Medicaid Service Coordinator shortly after obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Ohio Northern University. She was then promoted to Behavior Technician in 2006 and Behavior Specialist in 2009. Since then, Heather has obtained a Master’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University.

Heather is actively involved with several Allegany Arc committees including Community 5K Run/Walk (chair), Sexuality Education (chair), Wellness, and Remembrance. Outside of Allegany Arc, Heather is a board member for Allegany County Cancer Services, a member of Allegany County Critical Incident Stress Team for First Responders, coaches various youth sports and is a member of Chi Sigma Lota.

On weekends, Heather, her husband Brian and their two sons (6 and 9) enjoy running 5Ks, 10Ks and Half Marathons; hopefully completing a full marathon in the near future.
