Adult Career Continuing Educational Services – Vocational Rehabilitation (ACCES-VR)

ACCES-VR promotes educational equity and excellence for students with disabilities while ensuring that they receive the rights and protection to which they are entitled; assure appropriate continuity between the child and adult services systems; and provide the highest quality vocational rehabilitation and independent living services to all eligible persons as quickly as those services are required to enable them to work and live independent, self-directed lives.

Allegany County United Way

United Way is a worldwide network in 45 countries and territories, including nearly 1,300 local organizations in the U.S. It advances the common good, creating opportunities for a better life for all, by focusing on the three key building blocks of education, income and health. The United Way movement creates long lasting community change by addressing the underlying causes of problems that prevent progress in these areas. ARA PROS program is a collection of mental health and integrated human services designed to serve Allegany County adult consumers with severe and persistent mental illness. The program is committed to the recognition of consumer rights and their unique individual needs, to the active participation of consumers in their individual treatment and rehabilitation plans, and to the convictions to encourage and assist consumers to reach their highest possible level of independence, while providing for and insuring support for safety and personal growth.


CareerZone is an innovative online career exploration and planning system designed especially for today’s high-tech youth in New York State. CareerZone presents current and relevant occupational and labor market Information in a clear and interesting way, making career exploration and planning fun and easy.

Literacy West NY, Inc

Literacy Volunteers of Allegany County, Inc., is a non-profit organization working to promote literacy and lifelong learning for youths, adults, and families. Literacy Zone West, Inc. provides free reading, workplace math, pre-GED, and English as a Second Language (ESL) tutoring. LVAC also sponsors special events year-round and distributes free books at community events.

NYS Department of Labor

New York State’s Labor Department vigorously enforces state labor laws to provide a level playing field for law-abiding employers. They work aggressively to ensure a fair wage for all workers and protect the safety and health of workers and the public. They assist the unemployed by providing temporary financial assistance, connect job seekers with employers, and build a workforce that helps New York’s businesses compete in today’s global economy.

NYS Rehabilitation Association (NYSRA)

Statewide organization provides employment and on-going support services to people from all disability groups.

Office for People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD)

OPWDD provides state-oriented supports and services for people with developmental disabilities and their families.

Cattaraugus-Allegany Workforce New York

WIB’s mission is to assist individuals with acquiring the skills needed by local businesses that allow us to accomplish two key goals – helping people find jobs and connecting businesses with the skilled workers they need. WIB is committed to providing individuals with meaningful lifelong employment opportunities and to assisting employers in obtaining a skilled workforce.

Ticket to Work

The goal of the national Ticket to Work program (funded through the Social Security Administration) is to give people receiving disability benefits the chance to achieve steady, long-term employment.
