Crisis Intervention Program
The Crisis Intervention Program was started in 1991 and serves 50 individuals. Crisis Intervention assists individuals with developmental disabilities, in Allegany County, who live alone, live in family care, live with natural family, or live in a certified site. Crisis Intervention provides behavioral supports, linkage, referral, monitoring, and focuses on keeping an individual from being located to a more restrictive setting. Forensic, domestic issues, and other crisis supports are also available.
Day Habilitation (Day-Hab)
The onsite Day-Hab Program was started in 1994 and currently serves 61 people. We have a green house to teach horticulture skills, a ceramic's program and our own kiln so we can do our own firing on the premises, and a dye cutting machine. We make a variety of ceramic pieces along with dye cutting items for cards, stationary, etc. We sell these items to the public and proceeds go back into our program to purchase more supplies. The individuals are so proud to take part in making crafts and selling them for profit. Not only is it a real self-esteem booster, but it also gives the individuals a real sense of pride and ownership. Our Day Habilitation program is set up to provide activities to individuals geared toward acquiring and maintaining the skills necessary to become a contributing member in their community.

Horizons
The Horizons Program was started in 1996 and serves between 22 and 30 people. Horizons provides personal care to adults with Medicaid who have a doctor's order for in-home care. This is a consumer directed program, modeled from Consumer Directed Personal Care Aide Association of New York State (CDPAANYS) that allows the adult to hire and train the aide of their choice. Department of Social Services and Department of Health regulations apply.
Individualized Community Services
The Individualized Community Services Program provides recreational and vocational support for individuals on a one-on-one basis with an emphasis on social skill building in the community.
We all function in various types of groups: families, schools, teams, neighborhoods, and communities, among others. Social skills make our participation in these groups easier and more satisfying. By building valuable social relationships, self-esteem is boosted and gives an individual a sense of belonging.
The Individualized Community Services Program encourages personal development and helps to:
Improve the quality of participation in the community by providing supports that focus on individual goals, work activities and community participation
* Smooth the transition from school to life as an adult in the community
* Promote independence
* Foster social, emotional and community participation skills
* Promote continuing education and personal development

STRIDES
STRIDES is the Arc's Traumatic Brain Injury program. The program was started in 1995 and currently has over 26 people being served in various capacities depending on individual needs and desires for assistance. We have had several successes – people received the assistance needed and "graduated" from the program. Persons that were successful have maintained skills put in place and practiced with staff. Although this is scary for most people, they are made aware that if services are ever needed they may reapply for the TBI Waiver. Thus far, no individuals have had to reapply. STRIDES is approved to provide services in Allegany, Steuben, and Cattaraugus Counties. STRIDES provides services to individuals who have incurred a Traumatic Brain Injury. Services are provided in the person's home, community, or structured day program. The services are designed to assist each individual in becoming as independent as possible.
STRIDES provides information about TBI to anyone requesting information and/or resources available. We will also assist individuals in completing a referral to the RRDS (Rural Resource Development Specialist) in the person's region if they wish to apply for services.
