Allegany Arc (the Arc) recently announced that its Board of Directors named Mike Damiano to serve as the agency's Chief Executive Officer. Mike is a proven, dynamic leader with a passion for impacting the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. He is a deliberate thinker with experience in building and leading teams.
Mike brings programmatic vision, strategic ability and sound fiscal and operational management skills to the Arc. In partnership with a Board of Directors and 400 staff, Mike looks ahead to an ambitious strategic course for the Arc.
Prior to joining Allegany Arc, Mike served as the Assistant Director of Community Services for Allegany County. While there, he supervised Intensive Case Management, planned and implemented Common Sense Parenting, an evidence-based parent education program and provided training to other provider agencies to promote the program's passage throughout the county.
In his previous position, Mike worked closely with colleagues in the New York State Office of Mental Health, Columbia University School of Psychiatry, Allegany Rehabilitation Associates, and colleagues from other various service-agencies across Western New York.
Mike has extensive service working with people with special needs and is a great fit for Allegany Arc. He has worked as a Planning Consultant for Steuben County Community Services and as a Single Point of Access Coordinator for Allegany County. Mike has researched and organized cross-system task forces charged with implementation of evidence-based practices for co-occurring disorders treatment and supported employment for individuals with mental illness. He's also assisted the Director of Community Services in the oversight of mental health operations throughout the county.
Mike graduated from Mansfield University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science in Education, Special Education and a Master of Education, Special Education. He is a member of the New York State Office of Mental Health Children's Ambulatory Care Restructuring Committee, the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Strategic Prevention Planning Committee, and the New York State Conference of Local Mental Hygiene Director's Planning Committee. Mike also serves as the Chairperson on the Allegany County Single Point of Access for Adult Mental Health Case Management and Housing Services and the Allegany County Single Point of Access for Children's Mental Health Case Management and Residential Services.
