Allegany Arc was recently named a finalist for Buffalo Business First's Best Places to Work in Western New York 2012.  The competition was broken down into several categories; Allegany Arc was listed in the X-Large group with the number of employees ranging from 201 to 500.  There were over 10 businesses in the X-Large category and over 70 businesses competing overall.

To be eligible for an award, Allegany Arc employees were asked to complete a survey that was developed by Quantum Workplace.  Through these surveys, workers helped identify companies that succeed in retaining and recruiting good people and making them feel engaged in the workplace.  A large percentage of staff had to complete the survey to even be considered for this prestigious honor.  The survey's scoring system then chose the highest rated businesses as finalists.

Quantum Workplace finds that employee engagement is a more accurate measure of how a company rates as a place to work.  The businesses rated with the highest scores (of employee surveys) won for their category.  Allegany Arc is proud to have been a finalist.

Some of the anonymous surveyors had this to say about Allegany Arc, "My supervisor is very easy-going and allows each staff member to make decisions based on their knowledge of the business," "This department is by far one of the best to work for in this agency," and "I have a trusting, open and honest relationship with my direct supervisor.  She keeps the focus on what really matters the most - consumer satisfaction and quality of care."

Allegany Arc employs over 300 staff that are dedicated to providing the highest quality opportunities for people with special needs and their families.  Corinna McKnight, Senior Vice-President for Employee Relations says "Allegany Arc employees do extraordinary work and we are so pleased to be recognized as a finalist for Buffalo Business First Best Places to Work in Western New York 2012.  None of this would be possible without the strong teamwork and dedication put forth on a daily basis by our wide array of staff."
